Live Your Greatest Story (Part 4) - Living a Life of Love
By Steve Gahagen
One characteristic of someone who lives a great story is that they are filled with love. They make others the hero of their story, often serving people or being available for people in sacrificial ways.
Mother Teresa once said, “The most terrible poverty is loneliness and the feeling of being unloved.”
People driven by love demonstrate kindness, compassion, and warmth, creating a positive and uplifting atmosphere that naturally influences those around them. They build strong and supportive relationships. They have the gift of helping others feel like they belong.
English poet Ted Hughes: “The only thing people regret is that they didn’t live boldly enough, that they didn’t invest enough heart, didn’t love enough. Nothing else really counts at all.”
Love is the driving force of life. We are what we love. When you go after something you love, you’ll do anything it takes to get it, even if it costs everything. What you pursue or rearrange your life and finances around is what you love.
When we choose to love people over possessions or success, we will always live a great story. People who are driven by love will understand the line from the snowman, Olaf, in Frozen when he says, “Some people are worth melting for.”
Questions to Consider:
Have you ever been the recipient of sacrificial love? Share the story.
Why does an act of sacrifice potentially melt someone’s heart and create transformation?
How will you model sacrificial love this week?
