Create a Life-Giving Father's Day
By Steve Gahagen
Holidays like Father’s Day and Mother’s Day can become routine. Or, they can create opportunities to do something unusual to breathe life into others.
It can be challenging to find a meaningful card for Father’s Day. On a recent trip to the store I found cards about drinking, sitting around, and even farting. Maybe our society has low expectations for dads or maybe too many dads have let their kids down. So, we stick with the superficial.
I encourage you to create a Father’s Day moment your dad (or other father figure) will never forget. It may take you a couple of hours, but it will be more than worth it. Writing a short 1-2 page tribute will be more valuable than any card or gift you will ever buy him.
I’ve included a guide below to help you create your tribute. Some of you are already thinking, “I can’t do that. I’m not a good writer.” If you complete steps one and two and send it to us at info@playtoyourstrengths.org, our team will put it into story form for you.
Our mission is to help people thrive in life as they discover and play to their strengths. We most thrive when we breathe life into others.
